EIS system features

Successive measurements are performed with weak DC current and then very low frequency (from 100 Hz to 700 Hz) between six tactile electrodes placed symmetrically on the left and right forehead, palm of hands, and sole of the feet of the subject.
Each electrode is alternatively cathode then anode (bipolar mode), which permits the recording of the conductivity (Ohm‘s Law) of 11 interstitial fluid pathways of the human body.
The hand and foot electrodes are large size at least 250 cm2 and in metal
The forehead electrodes are disposable (single use) and in Ag/Ag/Cl.

The device provides for each pathway:

  • The conductivity from anode to cathode (SDC+)
  • The conductivity from cathode to anode (SDC-)
  • The delta between SDC+ minus SDC –, in numeric value and scale from 0 to 100
  • The dispersion of the current in pathway expressed in conventional unit (coefficient α).

Indications for use:

EIS (Electro Interstitial Scan) is a medical device for the measurement of galvanic skin response

Intended uses according to the features

Estimation of parameters related to living tissue:

  • Estimation of the tissue O2 consumption
  • Estimation of the interstitial fluid negative ions density ( Chloride ions and bicarbonate)
  • Estimation of the interstitial fluid balance positive ions – negative ions related to the Chloride ions density.
  • Estimation of the morphology of the interstitial fluid space.

 According to the clinical investigations

  • Follow ups of drugs’ administration (thyroid hormone, beta blockers, ACE inhibitors and SSRI treatments)
  • Screening of the prostate cancer and ADHD children ( learning disorders)
  • Estimation of the sympathetic system modulation.

The EIS will be used for children (over 5 years old) and adult patients.
The device is not a diagnostic tool and not intended for use in support life and not for continuously monitoring.
The system should be used by a practitioner.
